Chicago Bulls: 3 possible trade packages for Andre Drummond
By Ryan Heckman
The Chicago Bulls could package a trio of players for Andre Drummond
In this last deal, the Bulls have to pull together a package of three players in order to get close to Drummond’s $28 million salary. Cleveland would get veteran guard Tomas Satoransky, journeyman forward Thaddeus Young and young forward Chandler Hutchison.
The biggest part of this deal, for Cleveland, is getting Young. Although trading Young would hurt the Bulls in the short-term, getting a talent like Drummond and locking him down long-term would make it a worthwhile move.
Young has been playing arguably the best all-around basketball of his career this season — his 15th in the NBA. The Cavaliers would still get one more year out of Young, who is under contract through next season.
A younger team like Cleveland could benefit from having Young on the roster for a little while, similarly to the Bulls who have enjoyed his services thus far.
Satoransky is also under contract through next season, and he would give Cleveland a guy who can play multiple positions off the bench and provide some solid depth. As for Hutchison, he hasn’t quite panned out as a former first-round talent. But, the salary is so minimal that he becomes a throw-in.
Again, if any of these deals were to go down, the Bulls would then have to choose what they want to do with Wendell Carter Jr. going forward. Does he stick around as one of the best backup big men in the league? Or, do the Bulls try and trade him while committing long-term to Drummond?
