The Chicago Bulls could swap a pair of players including Andre Drummond

This second deal is the perfect example of a scenario where the Bulls would be committing to getting an extension done with Drummond for the coming years. In this scenario, the Bulls are finally making their decision on forward Lauri Markkanen.

While he’s played well this year, Markkanen is still not worth the Bulls paying upwards of $20 million annually. In Cleveland, maybe he fits their system better with two dynamic guards taking up the majority of the offense. That way, he can be more of an afterthought for opposing teams and continue to score at a high rate.

In Chicago, he’s been the second option within an offense that lacks a true facilitator. Cleveland boasts two strong guards in Darius Garland and Collin Sexton who demand a lot of attention on their end.

The Bulls would deal Markkanen and Otto Porter. In return, they get Drummond and forward Taurean Prince, who is under contract through next season at roughly $13 million.

Trading Markkanen means that Chicago can commit to a lineup featuring Patrick Williams at power forward while Prince slides into the small forward spot. With Drummond at the center and those two at forward, the Bulls become a much better defensive team in the blink of an eye.

Having scorers like LaVine and White, still, would make this Bulls team very interesting down the stretch.
