Chicago Bears Rumors: Top Allen Robinson tag-and-trade deals
By Ryan Heckman
The Chicago Bears could tag and trade Allen Robinson to the Baltimore Ravens
What an intriguing deal this would be, with the Bears and Ravens agreeing to a player-for-player deal. There are no picks involved in this one. It’s a straight up trade; pretty black and white.
The Ravens have given starting offensive tackle Orlando Brown permission to seek a trade after he expressed his desire to continue playing left tackle. Filling in for Ronnie Stanley last year, Brown ended the season as a Pro Bowl left tackle. But, he’ll be switched back to the right side if he ends up playing in Baltimore for 2021.
Enter: the tackle-needy Chicago Bears. This deal makes perfect sense for both sides. The Ravens look to be a premier wide receiver away from making a serious run at a Super Bowl. Lamar Jackson had some rough patches in 2020, but ultimately, he needs that ultra-reliable receiver he’s currently lacking.
The run game got going in a big way with J.K. Dobbins taking over the latter half of the season, but if you added in a guy like Robinson, that offense might be unstoppable. Robinson would give Marquise “Hollywood” Brown some room to run and do what he does best, while Jackson’s overall game is taken to a whole different level.
Meanwhile, the Bears get their starting left tackle of the future. Brown is in the last year of his rookie deal, meaning Chicago would have to work out an extension. One would think that any team willing to trade for Brown would immediately begin working on a long-term deal to keep him there for a long time, and that’s what Pace should do.
