It isn’t the ideal scenario, but the Chicago Bears could end up waving goodbye to Allen Robinson this offseason.

The 7-year veteran is coming off the third and final year of his contract with the Bears. 255 receptions and over 3,000 receiving yards later, it is hard to imagine a world without Robinson in Chicago. He’s become such a valuable asset to this offense.

However, it is suddenly not far fetched to say he could be playing in a different uniform next season. Before the start of this year, the Bears had talked to Robinson’s camp about an extension. All the way back in September, talks eventually halted.

Now, before free agency begins, the likely thought by many fans is that the Bears will at least use the franchise tag on Robinson. But, that scenario took a little bit of a hit on Tuesday when a news tidbit dropped stating that the Bears have not spoken to Robinson’s camp about an extension since talks broke off back in September (per NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero).

Following Pelissero’s report, another news piece dropped stating Robinson could eventually be tagged and traded.

It appears things have gone from bad to worse between the Bears and the star wide receiver. But, this one is all on general manager Ryan Pace. Robinson has done everything and more for this organization during his time in Chicago, and Pace is about to reward him with… a ticket out of town?

It’s maddening to be a fan of this franchise some days — err, most days. But, if this is the reality we have to live in, it’s time to start thinking about a future without Robinson. The positive, here, is that the Bears wouldn’t let him go for nothing.

So, where could he be headed? Let’s take a look at some tag-and-trade scenarios for Robinson and the Bears.
