Chicago Bulls Rumors: 3 sizzling Zach LaVine trades with Miami Heat
By Ryan Heckman
Zach LaVine nets the Chicago Bulls Goran Dragic and a couple of firsts
This second trade involves just LaVine and one other player: Heat point guard Goran Dragic. He has been an integral part of this Heat team over the last few years, but at his age now, he is no longer the everyday starter.
Still, Dragic is posting over 14 points and 5.3 assists per game. He’s still as crafty and smart as ever if he is healthy and on the court. The Bulls don’t exactly need a point guard, but including Dragic in this deal is strictly for matching up salaries.
Dragic’s salary this year is $18 million and next year his deal includes a team option for over $19 million. Most would assume that the Bulls decline that option moving forward, opening up some more cap space.
The biggest part of this deal is the two first rounders Chicago gets in return for LaVine. Again, the first would come in 2022 but then, their second would not come until 2024.
Moving forward, this would give the Bulls some incredible flexibility when it comes to building their franchise. Having a pair of firsts in two of the next four drafters is a big advantage, but also having some money to work with in free agency makes things exciting.
