Chicago Bears could consider these former superstar free agents
By Ryan Heckman
Patrick Peterson is at least worth a look for the Chicago Bears
One position where the Bears appear to be pretty solid going into the future is at cornerback. With Kyle Fuller and Jaylon Johnson the unquestioned starters, Chicago’s cornerback room is as strong as it has been in over a decade.
However, one particular former superstar cornerback is set to hit free agency for the first time in his career. Arizona Cardinals legend Patrick Peterson will not be back in the desert, as the sides will not work to complete a deal. That means Peterson becomes a highly intriguing name in free agency this year.
Sure, the Bears do not need another starting corner. However, one question tossed around in regards to Peterson is whether or not he would be willing to move to safety. Now, that’s a loaded question and one that doesn’t make a ton of sense for the Bears because of Eddie Jackson filling the free safety spot.
Peterson would have to move to strong safety if Jackson would be allowed to stick to his best, most comfortable position. Is that a possibility for the 8-time Pro Bowler and 3-time All Pro?
It seems unlikely, but the Bears should at least do some intel on Peterson this offseason. He may have lost a step, but a move to safety could help disguise some of that.
