Could the Chicago Bulls put the Boston Celtics over the top with a Coby White trade?

At 12-11, the Boston Celtics have yet to truly get into their groove this year. But, that will come. This core is too good to not get things going in the right direction and in a consistent manner. Sure, they’ll make the playoffs. But, how far will they go?

Just last week, Danny Ainge said that the Celtics needed to add some shooting with size, hinting at going after a forward with some scoring upside. We suggested maybe the Bulls could offer the Celtics Thaddeus Young or Lauri Markkanen in a deal. However, that’s not the only thing that would help this team.

Adding White would give the Celtics a true scoring threat off the bench behind Marcus Smart and Kemba Walker. Imagine a guard rotation with those three guys — frightening.

So far this season, rookie Payton Pritchard has played roughly 20 minutes per game and is putting up 7.7 points, 2.4 rebounds and 2.4 assists. That’s not too shabby for a rookie, but White completely upgrades that position.

Further behind Pritchard is Carsen Edwards, the former Purdue standout. He would come to the Bulls as part of a package that also sees Chicago land a first rounder this year and second rounder in next year’s draft.

Trading White isn’t completely necessary, but if the Bulls want to find themselves a pure point guard for their future, maybe parting ways with White isn’t that crazy.
