Super Bowl LV was a wildly fun matchup. The score was a lot more lopsided as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers defeated the Kansas City Chiefs by a final of 31-9. It was the highly anticipated matchup between Tom Brady and Patrick Mahomes. The guy who is clearly the greatest player of all time was going up against a guy with the tools to take that mantle for himself one day. As great as these two players are, the game was won and lost at the point of attack in addition to the play of the quarterbacks.

The Chicago Bears can learn a lot from what we saw on both sides of the ball in Super Bowl LV.

Of course, the Chicago Bears need a new quarterback. They are a lot like Tampa in the way that they had a good roster that is void of a quarterback. They went out and added Tom Brady and made a deep playoff run. The Bears aren’t going to go add the GOAT but they can go out and add someone who can help them win more football games. With that said, they still need to be able to protect whoever it is and they are going to need the defensive players to reach the opponent quarterback.

In Super Bowl LV, the Bears have a lot to learn about the way they need to construct their team. For one, it is clear that an offensive line is so important. Mahomes is the best quarterback going in the game right now but he was missing both offensive tackles and a guard. Even the best can look pedestrian if they are given no help in front of them. It isn’t really Kansas City’s fault because it was due to injury but the Bears can still learn from it because they have a lot of work to do there.

As for the defensive side of the ball, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers did a fantastic job taking advantage of this injury issue that the Chiefs had. The Bears, for some reason, have been underwhelming in their pass rush over the past few years. We know how awesome Khalil Mack and Akiem Hicks are but they haven’t seemed to take it to that next level. It can be blamed on the offense forcing them to play too much but Tampa showed how important that part of the game is.

Clearly, based on what we saw in this game, the point of attack is key. The team that won the battle won the game. The Bears need to fix their offensive line before even think about scheming something for whatever quarterback they bring in. They also need to figure out whatever it is they need to do to get this defensive line going again. Unfortunately, whenever something seems so obvious for the Bears, they are the only ones oblivious to it.
