Happy Super Sunday! It is a great day to have Super Bowl LV played between the Kansas City Chiefs and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. This is one of the most thrilling matchups to ever take place in the Super Bowl so sports fans reading this should absolutely be excited. However, there is a little bit of business to take care of for the local hockey team. The Chicago Blackhawks and Dallas Stars have a Super Sunday matchup earlier in the day. The Blackhawks have a real opportunity to continue playing well against a great team.

The Chicago Blackhawks will have another tough test when they head down to play the Dallas Stars.

Going from the Carolina Hurricanes to the Dallas Stars is no easy task. However, they played very well against the Hurricanes with all things considered. They took three out of four points from them and the fourth point was lost on the final shooter in a shootout. Now, they have a chance to play well against another very good team in the Dallas Stars. It is hard to decide who is better of the two teams but they are both considered Stanley Cup contenders at this time.

For the Dallas Stars, they have a bunch of elite players. For one, their defense core is led by a stud named Miro Heiskanen. They also have John Klingberg who is one of the best offensive defensemen in the NHL. When these two are going, they are awesome and it makes the Stars hard to beat. The Hawks are going to need their forwards to be hard on the forecheck and make things difficult on them with their speed.

Then, of course, is their forwards. Tyler Seguin was playing injured during their run to the Stanley Cup Final in October. He had a torn labrum in his hip so that surgery is causing him to miss most of this season. He hopes to be ready for another postseason run but the Hawks certainly won’t have to see him on this trip.

They will, however, have to see Joe Pavelski, Alexander Radulov, Denis Gurianov, and Jamie Benn amongst others. This is a loaded team that can score a lot and the forwards get a lot of help from the back end. Kevin Lankinen is going to need to have a great game in goal for Chicago to have a chance.

One notable part of Chicago’s game right now is the power play. They are clicking at 37.8 percent which is good for fourth in the National Hockey League. If that hot streak continues, they have a chance to beat the Stars who have the 16th best penalty kill. The Stars, however, are one of the three teams ahead of the Blackhawks in power-play percentage. They are tied for first with the Toronto Maple Leafs at 40.0 percent. It would be wise to stay out of the box if you are on either team.

This should be a nice little hockey appetizer before the main event of the sports Sunday. The Hawks have been playing above their talent over the last couple of weeks and a lot of people deserve credit for that. Hopefully, they can keep it going in Dallas.
