Chicago Bears: These Carson Wentz trades make the most sense
By Ryan Heckman
A rumored name, Tarik Cohen, is indeed included in this Chicago Bears’ deal to acquire Wentz
Saturday night, there was a report from an aforementioned reporter which said that the Bears were likely going to include a first-round pick, Nick Foles and another offensive player in a trade for Wentz. She went on to quote her own tweet stating that she was hearing Tarik Cohen’s name in that conversation.
Following that series of tweets, Cohen himself tweeted that he got off the phone with both Pace and Nagy and he stated “we’re locked in” and that “people say anything nowadays.” Still, sometimes when there is smoke, there could be fire.
This type of trade actually makes sense because the Eagles haven’t had a stable third-down back to pair with Miles Sanders, and coming off an ACL injury, no one knows how Cohen will respond. The Bears get his salary off the books, which is over a $5 million cap hit in 2021.
Nick Foles goes back to the Eagles for a third time, and gets to back up Hurts. Along with those two, the Eagles get their first-round pick, but only one pick in total.
The Bears are also, once again, able to get a pick in return. It’s a fifth-round pick in this year’s draft, giving them a couple of selections there to possibly move up into the fourth round, where they do not own a pick this year.
