Chicago Bears land no. 4 pick in these trades with Falcons
By Ryan Heckman
The Chicago Bears deal a franchise cornerstone to land their quarterback
If the previous two deals weren’t enough to get it done, the Bears could up their offer quite a bit. However, the deal would have to get changed up just a little.
In this scenario, the Bears decide to part ways with Khalil Mack, whom Pace dealt a huge package of picks for just a few years ago. It’s not that Mack hasn’t worked out, but the production over the past two years just hasn’t been there. He’s been disruptive, but the sacks have not shown up as many fans would have liked to see.
With the Falcons potentially trading quarterback Matt Ryan, they’ll have some room to absorb a contract like Mack’s, Plus, Atlanta could use some help on the defensive side of the ball. Mack would provide them an incredible boost.
Meanwhile, the Bears clear up a ton of cap space and could very well afford to re-sign Robinson while also addressing the offensive line in both the draft and free agency if they so choose.
Because of the magnitude of the haul on Atlanta’s side, the Bears also get a fourth rounder in return. The Falcons get Mack, two firsts and a fifth.
The Bears lose their best defensive player, but keep most of that unit intact while taking their shot on a franchise quarterback, and that’s what is most important for the Bears at this point. If Chicago doesn’t get the quarterback position right this offseason, they’ll be set back years to come. It should all be on the table at this point.
