A Kyle Fuller trade helps the Chicago Bears get that no. 4 pick

If the Falcons wanted a bit more than simply a package of picks, they could choose to ask for a solidified defensive starter in the deal — a lot like the Texans’ rumored desire for a Deshaun Watson package.

The Bears have a top-10 cornerback in the NFL in Kyle Fuller, and he would be a perfect guy to try and lure that no. 4 pick away from Atlanta. If Chicago wanted to up their previous deal, a Fuller-centered deal could get the job done.

First of all, Fuller’s cap hit in 2021 is $20 million. While he’s well-worth the money, the Bears would afford to clear up a little bit of space to help the offensive side of the ball. They have to find a way to re-sign Allen Robinson while also making him a bit happier — a quarterback would certainly help.

Chicago could use the money saved from Fuller’s exit to bring back Robinson, and also to try and upgrade one of the tackle positions if they are unable to do that in the draft.

Dealing Fuller would see the defense take a hit, but the ascension of Jaylon Johnson would help ease that pain. The Bears would be in dire need of another starter opposite of Johnson, which they could choose to land during the draft as well. If not, the money saved from Fuller’s cap hit could also be used on a corner to replace him.
