Chicago Bears land no. 4 pick in these trades with Falcons
By Ryan Heckman
The Chicago Bears could move a haul of picks for one lone shot at a quarterback
Looking at past trades for a top pick like this, we’ve seen a team like the Rams trade up for the no. 1 pick in the 2016 draft. To land that pick, the Rams traded a total of six picks and all of them were in the first three rounds, including a pair of firsts. However, the Rams also received a fourth and sixth rounder in that deal from the Titans.
While we’re not talking about the top pick in the draft, the no. 4 pick likely means a franchise quarterback for the Bears so the haul is still a pretty significant one.
The Bears would deal their first rounder this year (pick 20), first rounder next year, plus a fifth-round pick this year and third-round pick next year. So, it’s a total of four picks for the fourth overall selection.
The positive, here, is that not only do the Bears likely come away with someone like Zach Wilson or Justin Fields, but they also hold onto 2021 draft capital. Keeping the second and third-round picks this year is huge, because then they can afford to go after a starting tackle at the very least.
Drafting a quarterback would be exciting, but the Bears have to upgrade the tackle position. With those second and third-round picks, they could do exactly that.
