The Chicago Bears need a franchise quarterback, and a big move just might be warranted at this stage.

General manager Ryan Pace has never shied away from pulling the trigger on a big trade. They haven’t always worked out, but Pace has been known to take his shots.

Obviously, back in 2017 he traded a bunch to move up just one spot and select Mitchell Trubisky at no. 2 overall. He had his convictions regarding Trubisky, so he made the jump up. Did it work out? Absolutely not.

Pace also traded a haul of picks to land Khalil Mack back in 2018, and most would agree that the trade has worked out for the most part. If anything, it’s been a wash for both the Bears and Raiders, as Jon Gruden’s bunch somewhat blew a couple of those selections.

In what might be his last chance with the Bears, Pace should opt to go for the jugular. Possessing the no. 20 pick in this year’s NFL Draft, the Bears don’t stand a chance at getting a franchise quarterback there. Maybe Mac Jones is available at that pick, but he’s not quite the sure fire franchise type.

Right now, the Bears should be thinking about moving up high enough to get one of the top three quarterbacks in the draft, if not top four at the very least. Sure, they aren’t going to wind up with Trevor Lawrence. But, Justin Fields, Zach Wilson and Trey Lance could all be realistic.

In order to do that, a trade with the Atlanta Falcons might be the perfect scenario. A team like the Falcons could be entering a full-on rebuild, and netting a haul for the no. 4 overall selection may be appealing for Atlanta.

What would the Bears have to give up to move up to no. 4? One of these deals could make it happen.
