30. . QB. New York Jets. Sam Darnold. 14. player

The New York Jets are one of the teams in the NFL that just have the worst luck possible. They had the top spot in the draft for themselves for most of the season but won a couple of games down the stretch and lost out on it. The right to draft Trevor Lawrence out of the University of Clemson is now gone and that will happen for the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Now, it looks like they might draft Justin Fields out of Ohio State University. If that happens, New York’s other really high draft pick, Sam Darnold, is going to be on his way out. There is also a possibility that New York trades the second overall pick to Houston for Deshaun Watson. If Darnold isn’t included in that trade, the Bears could swoop in.

If Darnold was on the Bears, it might be a nice change of scenery for him. He went in a draft where a lot of guys were selected in the top ten. He was amongst them at pick number three. The Jets were clearly able to see his talent back then but they haven’t been able to maximize it. Dalton might have had a hit to his development because he was drafted by the Jets and their poor coaching staff/organization. If he came to Chicago, it isn’t much better there but at least it would be a change of scenery on a team that desperately needs help at the position.
