player. 44. . QB. Atlanta Falcons. Matt Ryan. 2

The Atlanta Falcons have had Matt Ryan in the fold for a very long time. He was the first good thing to happen to the following the Michael Vick situation that led to him going to prison. Ryan came into a weird situation and made it work for a long time. Now, after all of these years, it seems like his time in Atlanta has come to an end.

In his career, he has an MVP, four Pro Bowl selections, and a trip to the Super Bowl. He would have won that Super Bowl if his team didn’t suffer the biggest collapse in the history of team sport. They were up 28-3 late in the second half and still didn’t win the football game. Tom Brady and the Patriots came all the way back to win the big game in overtime by a final score of 34-28. Ryan played well but not well enough and his coaching staff really let him down.

Now that he is on his way out of Atlanta, he is 35 years old and will be 36 by the time we kick off the 2021 season. He isn’t going to be anyone’s long term solution, even the Bears. What he can be is a guy who plays well in the short term while the team figures out the position moving forward. Ryan was okay on a very bad Falcons team in 2020. He had 4581 passing yards and 26 touchdowns to only 11 interceptions. If he brought that to the Bears, the offense would be so much better.
