Bulls ditch Otto, address needs

This is a simple player swap, though I’m sure a trade involving Otto wouldn’t be this simple. This trade gives Memphis another strong veteran that can basically do what he is doing in Chicago (starting, coming off the bench, doing veteran things) while giving the Bulls a playmaking guard and a veteran big who can start for Carter.

Dieng can then come off the bench when Wendell makes his return.

The key to this trade is no big names being moved. Sure, Porter has a big-name contract but he’s more of a valuable role player, doubly so when on a possible playoff team like the Grizzlies.

Porter would easily move into a sixth-man role for Memphis and could spot in the starting lineup as injuries and COVID inevitably make their way through the team.

Jones would be strictly a playmaker who could play tough defense alongside Garrett Temple on the Bulls bench.

Billy D will always find a spot for a guard like Jones, though this move could possibly see others happen as a counter effect.
