Chicago Bears: What to watch for at the 2021 Senior Bowl

5. Dynamic running backs could catch the Chicago Bears eye
While Tarik Cohen will be back in the fold for 2021, the Bears need to find a true running back to pair with David Montgomery. While Cohen can technically be that piece for the Bears, Nagy clearly has other plans for him.
Keep an eye on Michael Carter (UNC) and Trey Sermon (Ohio State). Carter can be the perfect complement to Montgomery as a player who could have an impact in the passing game. Furthermore, there is a lot to like about Carter’s skillset. Highly productive as a wide receiver, Carter finished his college career with 82 receptions for 656 yards and six touchdowns. The key stat to understand here is that he did average eight yards per reception.
Sermon on the other hand really caught the attention of many during the College Football playoffs. Being listed at 6-foot-1 and 215 pounds, he is a much bigger running back who brings physicality, toughness, and great ball security on any given play. Sermon’s production is hard to ignore too. Throughout his college career, he’s averaged 6.5 yards per rushing attempt and 10.1 yards per reception. He’s the kind of running back who can thrive when continuing to be fed the ball.
Running back may not be a major need for the Bears, however, being able to add someone of Carter or Sermon’s skillset could take a lot off of Montgomery’s shoulders while also giving the offense another weapon to put around the quarterback.
