Chicago Bears: What to watch for at the 2021 Senior Bowl

1. Edge Rusher should be a position of emphasis for the Chicago Bears
Here’s the deal: Robert Quinn’s first season with the Bears was a total failure. However, the Bears are locked into Khalil Mack’s contract until 2024 and while the team has Trevis Gipson, they should still look to add some edge rusher depth.
Luckily, one main prospect that could catch the Bears eye is Penn State’s Shaka Toney. A player who’s been a regular part of Penn State’s defense over the last four seasons, Toney was a highly productive player, finishing his college career with 111 total tackles, 28.5 tackles for loss, and 20 sacks.
While edge rusher isn’t necessarily a big need for the Bears, Quinn and Mack are getting older and having some additional depth behind both is something that Pace and Nagy need to explore. Another name that could interest the Bears is Quincy Roche from Miami (FL). Roche too was another highly productive player in college with 182 tackles, 54 tackles for loss, and 30.5 sacks.
Drafting an edge rusher high would be a bit of a luxury pick, however, if Toney or Roche fall to the Bears in the later rounds, both are worth taking a chance on as players who can develop into solid starters down the road.
