Cornell Powell. 5. Scouting Report. WR. Pick Analysis. Clemson. player. 57

My, oh my, how the receiver position could look different for the Bears in the coming months. 2021 could see the Bears without both Allen Robinson and Anthony Miller, and if that’s the case, they’ll have to address wideout in the draft.

If Miller is cut (which is a strong possibility) he could be replaced here in the fifth round with Clemson’s Cornell Powell.

At six feet, 210 pounds, Powell offers decent size and could line up either outside or in the slot. But, he does a great job after the catch, making him a candidate to line up in the slot.

Powell is kind of an all-around receiver who again offers solid size, but also fairly good speed, tremendous hands and ball skills. He didn’t really emerge with the Tigers until his final year in 2020, but Powell did enough to put draft scouts on notice.

His fifth and final year at Clemson saw Powell catch 53 passes for 882 yards and seven touchdowns. In an offense with so many weapons, Trevor Lawrence spread the football out nicely. Powell is one of a handful of guys the draft will see selected on this Clemson offense, and the Bears get  a guy in Powell who could be a plug-and-play type of receiver.

His experience in an elite program like Clemson makes Powell a candidate to step right in and get some serious playing time, and the Bears would not regret taking a shot on him in the fifth round.
