Things were getting a little bit scary there for a minute when it looked like the Chicago White Sox don’t have a closer. Alex Colome was a great player for them for a couple of years but his contract was up. A lot of people wanted the White Sox to bring him back as that would have been a really smart thing to do. Somehow, they did something even smarter.

They brought in Liam Hendriks to be their new closer. He is widely considered the best closer in all of baseball right now after some dominant years with the Oakland Athletics. The White Sox were able to see just how dominant he was during their three-game playoff series back in October. That led to elimination for the White Sox but Hendricks must’ve liked what he saw on the other side.

Now, the White Sox have a great closer to round out one of the best bullpens in Major League Baseball. There is no denying that a bullpen is only as good as it’s closer but the guys who will come before him need to carry their weight too. Players like Codi Heuer, Evan Marshall, Matt Foster, and Aaron Bummer amongst others should be able to do a very good job of handing the ball to Hendriks late in the game with a lead. We have seen in recent years that World Series titles are won with great bullpens and the White Sox have a great bullpen.
