If Blue Jays fans aren’t ready to give up a little bit in order to get a deal done for Kris Bryant and Kyle Hendricks, they shouldn’t be wanting Kris Bryant or Kyle Hendricks. That is why asking for Cavan Biggio and Teoscar Hernandez isn’t that unrealistic. We went over already how impactful Bryant and Hendricks have been throughout their careers. Bryant wasn’t very good in 2020 but once he started to get healthy at the end, we started to see him shine again.

MLB fans have turned a little bit on Bryant but he is going to help the next team he goes to win. If he went to Toronto, he could play the infield (third base) or the outfield (left or right). George Springer is coming to Toronto so letting go of Teoscar Hernandez could be a necessary loss in a trade like this. There are plenty of options to replace him, especially with Springer coming.

As for Biggio, he is a great player that would make an impact on the Cubs for a long time. He would be a tough loss for the Jays but adding Bryant to replace him would work out just fine. It is the type of trade that is made between one team that has a downward arrow and one team that has an upward arrow.

This trade is a bit different than the first two because of the fact that the two players coming back to the Cubs are roster players. They would play with the Cubs at the Major League level right away. They are both young enough, however, to consider them great pieces of a rebuilding roster.

For the Jays, Bryant and Hendricks both bring a tremendous amount of playoff experience. If you combine it with that of Springer, you have a budding core that has been supplemented with guys who have been there and done that. We don’t know if this trade will actually go down but it might look something like one of these proposals if it does.
