Let’s pretend that the previous trade package is just way too much for a team to part with. Giving up a number one, number four, and number five prospect would be tough for any organization, even if it meant adding another ace pitcher and a former MVP. The Cubs might find that landing that kind of haul for Bryant will be harder than they thought because of how things have gone down with him. Adding Hendricks to the mix might make it a more attractive idea but you never know.

This trade package is a bit more underwhelming for Cubs fans but it would still be a great haul of prospects. Austin Martin is Toronto’s number two prospect and he is the number two prospect listed and the number 16 prospect on MLB dot dom. He is a guy who can apparently play shortstop and the outfield. We don’t know if the Cubs actually plan on keeping Javier Baez but they could very well lose him at the rate they’re going. We also know they have some outfield gaps too and Martin might be able to help.

Alejandro Kirk is a catcher that is currently the number six prospect for the Toronto Blue Jays. Similar to Baez, we don’t know the future of Willson Contreras. They already traded Victor Caratini and Miguel Amaya might need some help someday if he ever makes it to the big leagues. If Kirk was added to the system, he would be another guy that they might be able to try at the position.

Miguel Hiraldo is a guy that might take a minute to get to the MLB. He is their number nine prospect and plans on being a middle infielder someday. The Cubs may or may not have a need for that in the future but he is a good guy to grab as an extra piece for Bryant and Hendricks. The top-talent in this trade might not be as much as the first one but there are still some nice prospects to be had if the market isn’t what the Cubs thought it would be.
