If the Chicago Cubs and Toronto Blue Jays made a trade like this, it would shock the baseball world. The Blue Jays would be adding a former MVP winning third baseman and a pitcher who has an ERA title and a top-three finish for the Cy Young. In return, the Cubs would be getting a huge haul of prospects. That many high-level prospects don’t get shipped off in one trade too often but for a deal like this, it wouldn’t be that surprising.

Nate Pearson is Toronto’s number one prospect. He is also on MLB dot com as the number six prospect in all of baseball. He is a right-handed pitcher that the Jays selected 28th overall in the first round of the 2017 MLB Draft. He is a phenomenal young pitcher that is going to be a stud in the not so distant future. We don’t know exactly when he is going to make his MLB debut but it is going to be sooner than later.

Simeon Woods Richardson is Toronto’s number four prospect. That would mean that the Cubs are giving up two of their best players in exchange for another MLB team’s number one and number four prospects. It is a huge deal, of course. Something like this might be out of the realm of possibility because of the magnitude of it but it would make sense to see Toronto go all in. Simeon Woods Richardson is another right-handed pitcher and we all know the Cubs need pitching.

Alek Manoah is Toronto’s number five prospect. Landing him would mean that the Cubs are landing three top prospects that are all pitchers. If they developed two of the three to reach their full potential, they would be a much better organization than if they kept Bryant and Hendricks to win 85 games. Leonardo Jimenez is their number 14 prospect so he is not guaranteed to ever make it but having extra infielders in the organization could really help them one day.
