Matthew Stafford isn’t the only top quarterback that is available right now. Deshaun Watson is the league’s top trade prize right now but it doesn’t seem like he is in the cards for the Bears. We don’t necessarily know the type of return that a player like Watson would return in a trade but we can imagine that it is going to be very expensive. It might not even be worth it for a team like the Bears who are in the middle of the pack with what they have.

That is why Matthew Stafford might be the smart choice. He is a great quarterback that can get the Bears over the hump similar to Watson. He isn’t quite that good (as Watson) but he would surely be an upgrade over what they have had in the Ryan Pace/Matt Nagy era. Giving up a couple of football assets to get him would be really nice to see.

There are reports out there from various folks that the Lions are looking for a first-round pick and a third-round pick. Most of us would make that trade in a heartbeat, especially with the poor early-round drafting that seems to happen with Ryan Pace. However, because it is a division rival, you can probably expect it to cost a little bit more. That first, third, and a good roster player makes more sense for both sides in this scenario. We don’t know if the Watson trade will impact this one but it just might.
