Option 3: Ryan Pace and the Chicago Bears sacrifice it all to move up in the draft

If all else fails, then the Bears have to go into draft weekend with a clear plan set in place. They have to trade up and select one of the top five quarterbacks available.

Let’s state the obvious: Trevor Lawrence is not an option. He’s going number one to the Jacksonville Jaguars, and that’s the end of that story. But, beyond Lawrence, things could get interesting.

As stated previously, the Bears have a heck of a lot of teams ahead of them which may be looking for a quarterback — including Detroit. By trading Stafford, the Lions could theoretically take two potential options away from the Bears.

If the Bears wanted Justin Fields or Zach Wilson, they would most likely have to trade up into the top five picks.

Going back just a hair further, Chicago would have to dip just inside the top 10, if not picks 11 or 12 in order to have a shot at drafting North Dakota State’s Trey Lance. Beyond Lance, it’s Alabama’s Mac Jones, who could fall all the way to the back of the first round. However, with the way the quarterback landscape is set to shake out, that’s not probable.

To recap, the Bears would have to jump up into the top 15 to assure they have a chance at drafting one of the top quarterbacks in this year’s draft. But, are Lance or Jones even going to be worth the trade up? Or, would it make more sense to do everything in their power to get a veteran?
