New York Jets Sam Darnold

The inept franchise that is the New York Jets had yet another abysmal season going 2-14 in 2020. As a result, they fired their Head Coach Adam Gase and wasted another year of starting quarterback Sam Darnold.

The Jets will be looking to find that perfect marriage between new Head Coach Robert Saleh and whom ever will be running the offense. But, as the saying goes, one man’s trash is another man’s treasure.

Ryan Pace should have placed the call yesterday to Jets GM Joe Douglas on Darnold while his stock is at its lowest. Darnold is coming off of an injury riddled season in which he threw for 2,208 yards, 9 TD and 11 INT in just 12 games.

While Darnold has never complete a full 16 game season, he was once one of the most highly touted quarterbacks coming out of college. The Trojan grad was selected with the third pick in the 2018 draft behind only Baker Mayfield and Saquon Barkley.

With the support of a stable organization, a functioning head coach, and a change of scenery as a whole, Darnold could be poised for a break out season in 2021.

We can expect to see a similar package in which the Arizona Cardinals got for Josh Rosen in 2019. If that is the case, we could see a revitalized Darnold in Chicago next season.
