Chicago Bears: These quarterback moves could secure Ryan Pace’s future
By Ryan Heckman
The Chicago Bears could opt to pull off a trade for Atlanta Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan
Things are getting interesting down in Atlanta, because the team currently has plenty of offensive firepower. Hiring former Tennessee Titans offensive coordinator Arthur Smith as their new head coach is a curious move, because the Falcons have had a tougher time on defense in recent years than they have on offense.
With Smith coming in, one has to wonder what he and the Falcons brass will decide to do with that fourth overall pick. The Falcons could decide to draft a quarterback there, and if they do, then maybe veteran Matt Ryan goes elsewhere via trade.
If Atlanta decides during free agency that they are going to go quarterback with that fourth pick, they’ll make it known that Ryan is available. At that point, Pace has to at least do his due diligence on a trade for Ryan.
Dealing for Ryan would make this Bears team a contender immediately. There’s no question. Over the past three years, we’ve seen so much evidence to say that these guys are truly a good quarterback away from making a championship run.
Ryan would instantly have the best defense he’s ever played with, giving him a whole different confidence level going into each and every game. The Bears, and Pace, would be feeling pretty high and mighty after pulling off a trade like this.
