Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. Clemson. 57. WR. Amari Rodgers. 7. player

The Chicago Bears round out their draft with a high-upside receiver in Clemson’s Amari Rodgers.

Finally, the Bears end their draft by grabbing another wide receiver with spotlight experience, just as they once did with Javon Wims in the seventh round a few years ago. This time, it’s one of Trevor Lawrence’s favorite targets in Amari Rodgers.

The 5-foot-9 Rodgers offers some intriguing potential as a guy who can line up in a variety of spots, including the back field if Nagy so chooses.

One of the most impressive parts of Rodgers’ game is his ability to help his quarterback out. He plays best in the slot, and knows how to work to get open. He’s one of those “always open” types of receivers. Rodgers uses his body well to position himself in front of defenders, giving his quarterback a much easier throw.

Rodgers could slot right in for Miller, who may end up being cut, of course. He’s best suited in the slot, so Rodgers is a perfect pick here. In fact, he truly shouldn’t be available in the seventh round if you ask me. But, once again, some players are going to fall. If we looked at the positive traits in every player in the draft, they would all go higher than projected.

In 2020, Rodgers caught 77 passes for 1,020 yards and seven scores. He does a great job after the catch to fight for extra yardage. Rodgers isn’t going to be the guy to beat a defense deep, which is fine. The Bears will need someone like Rodgers to work the sticks and ensure drives are maintained.
