Reports over the weekend circulated that Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson wants out and is eyeing a trade from the Texans. The idea of Watson wanting a trade from the Houston Texans has ignited rumors that the Chicago Bears and general manager Ryan Pace can correct the mistake they made in 2017 when he selected Mitchell Trubisky instead of Watson  with the second overall selection in the NFL Draft.

Like Watson, Trubisky also does not appear likely to return to the organization that drafted him in 2017. If there was one honest takeaway from the Bears’ end of the season press conference last week, it was that the Bears need to fully address the quarterback position this off-season.

Everything that Watson has been for the Texans during his first four seasons of his career is everything that Trubisky has not been for the Bears.

That is the reason why Bears general manager Ryan Pace will have one final attempt to correct the mistake that he had in 2017. Will that resolution to the mistake be Watson himself?

The answer to that question no and the reasons for that answer all revolve around Pace.

More from Chicago Bears

Pace was grossly negligent with his evaluation process of the quarterbacks in the 2017 NFL Draft. Beyond not selecting Watson instead of Trubisky, Pace did not even have a conversation/dinner with the former Clemson product.

Deshaun Watson is available and likely not interested in joining the Chicago Bears.

For Pace, the blame is not selecting Trubisky over Watson in the 2017 NFL Draft. The blame is that Pace did not do his due diligence to at least have a conversation with Watson.

Beyond the fact that Pace essentially ignored Watson as a prospect in  2017 is the fact that Pace has driven Bears’ star wide receiver Allen Robinson directly out of the building. Prior to the  beginning of this season, a season that served as the final year of Robinson’s contract with the Bears, the star wide receiver was openly gushing about the idea of signing a new contract with the Bears.

Then the season started and Robinson’s relationship with the Bears deteriorated. The relationship went from head coach Matt Nagy sounding confident at the beginning of the season that a deal would get done to Robinson taking a shot at Pace last week when he said the Bears had a year to get a deal done and haven’t so why would be be confident that a deal would be completed now.

The reason why Watson wants out of Houston is because the lack of value that the organization has placed on his input. Therefore, it seems unlikely that Watson would approve a trade to the Bears in order to play with a general manager that flat out insulted him during the 2017 NFL Draft process and also pushed his star wide receiver out the door.

Next. Allen Robinson to Baltimore?. dark

The Chicago Bears are not a desirable option for Deshaun Watson and general manager Ryan Pace is solely to blame for that.
