The Chicago Bears could have a serious chance at landing the no. 2 overall pick if some recent reports regarding the New York Jets and Sam Darnold prove to be true.

This offseason is a big one for the Bears. It’s important that, somehow, general manager Ryan Pace can prove his front office correct and everybody else wrong. George McCaskey and Ted Phillips decided to keep Pace around for 2021, along with head coach Matt Nagy.

But, all signs point to this being the duo’s last chance to get things right. Specifically, it’s Pace’s fourth and final shot to finally get the quarterback position fixed. In six years, he’s whiffed three times.

Yet, McCaskey wants to give him a fourth — but that’s another story.

Earlier this week, there were a couple of insiders who had some valuable information to give on the Jets’ quarterback satiation. To start with, ESPN’s Adam Schefter said that he would be surprised if Darnold was not the starting quarterback for the Jets in 2021.

Furthermore, Benjamin Allbright took it to a whole different level.

Could the Chicago Bears really end up with the second pick in the 2021 NFL Draft?

It sounds crazy, but Pace might need to get crazy if he’s going to stick around longer than just this upcoming season.

If New York is honestly willing to take calls and discuss a deal involving the no. 2 pick, then Pace would be a fool not to be his first caller. After all, this franchise has been a franchise quarterback away from truly competing for… well, most of their team’s history, if we’re being real.

Right now, though, this team could be ready to make a Super Bowl run as long as they get the quarterback position right. With the second overall pick, the Bears would likely have their choice between Ohio State’s Justin Fields and BYU’s Zach Wilson, assuming Trevor Lawrence goes number one.

If there’s an opportunity to land a franchise quarterback this year, Pace has to do it. But, what would it take? In short: quite the haul. The following three trades seem fairly doable from both ends.
