Chicago Bears: 5 things they can learn from remaining playoff teams
By Dan Dundas
The Chicago Bears have many adjustments to make. They could start by watching what playoff teams ahead of them have done.
The Chicago Bears season came crashing to a halt in New Orleans this past Sunday, when in reality, it wasn’t doing much more than getting passed by playoff teams on the highway. The 8-8 season left many fans with a bitter taste in their mouth about what could have been, especially after their tremendous 2018 NFL season.
Yes, a lot of that previous success had to do with having Vic Fangio as defensive coordinator and winning the turnover battle that year in a skewed fashion with a ridiculous total of 48 on the year. As well, teams got a glimpse of Matt Nagy’s offense before he decided to crank up the IQ with players who apparently weren’t ready for it.
After two seasons of 8-8 football, and a lot is left to be desired. Defensive Coordinators have seemed to have a beat on Nagy’s offense, and in turn, Nagy doesn’t seem to understand how they are playing him in return. Issues with the offensive line that seem to be fixed randomly mid season, and more importantly quarterback play, has hindered any offensive progress.
People have plenty of opinions on what the Bears need to do, but the answers might be right in front of their face while they are sitting home this weekend. The Bears played all four of the NFC teams remaining in the divisional round of the playoffs.
The AFC opponents offer some new blood with the Buffalo Bills and Cleveland Browns coming out of the NFL darkness, and some of these teams have traits and concepts that the Bears coaching staff and office can emulate.
