Chicago Cubs Rumors: Kris Bryant headlines 3 blockbuster trades with Mets
Some mid-level prospects might cause the Chicago Cubs to trade Kris Bryant.
Trade Two:
The Chicago Cubs only have one season to trade Kris Bryant before he is free to do whatever he wants. Other teams obviously know that and might take advantage of that knowledge when trying to acquire him. That makes it very hard for the Cubs to think about getting an organization’s top prospect or even maybe any of their top three prospects. For that reason, Pete Crow-Armstrong and J.T. Ginn would be as good of a return as you can expect if this were the Mets’ line of thinking.
Pete Crow-Armstrong is currently the number five prospect in the New York Mets organization. He was their first-round (19th overall) pick in the 2020 MLB Draft. He hails from that famous high school that has produced Major Leaguers like Lucas Giolito, Jack Flaherty, and Max Fried so you know that he has up to this point, been taught his craft well. The only difference is that he isn’t a starting pitcher. He isn’t even a pitcher at all. He is an outfielder that is looking to make his way to a Major League lineup.
J.T. Ginn, however, is a pitcher and we know how much this organization needs to be better at developing pitching. He was a second-round (52nd overall) pick in 2020 but his story is a little bit different. He was a first-round pick by the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2018 but they couldn’t pay him his asking price. He had Tommy John after some short work in 2020 and slipped in the draft. He is a great pitcher that has the tools to impress in the big leagues. The Cubs might benefit from taking a chance on him.
