What would it take for the Chicago Cubs to trade Kris Bryant to the New York Mets?

Last week, all of Chicago was getting ready to watch their disappointing football team take part in a playoff game that they didn’t really deserve to be in but were lucky to be involved in nonetheless. While that was going on, the baseball team on the north side known as the Chicago Cubs were involved in some trade rumors. They suggest that the Cubs and New York Mets have had trade dialogue involving Kris Bryant.

The Mets, just prior to that, made one of the biggest trades that baseball has seen in a long time. They acquired superstar shortstop Francisco Lindor and a very good pitcher in Carlos Carrasco in a six-player trade with the Cleveland Indians. That is going to be a huge boost to their team as they try to finally take advantage of this really good pitching staff that they have.

Now, the Mets probably shouldn’t be done. They play in the NL East and that can go a lot of different ways. The Atlanta Braves are still the best team in the division until someone dethrones them. Atlanta had a 3-1 series lead and was one win away from advancing to the World Series before the Los Angeles Dodgers came back and won. The Miami Marlins surprised people and made the playoffs and even beat the Cubs in the first round.

The Philadelphia Phillies are a competitive team but the Mets should be better at this point. There is also the Washington Nationals who struggled in 2020 but won the World Series in 2019. Each of them is a “we don’t know what to expect” team so the Mets need to be wary. They can’t be satisfied until they do start winning so they should probably keep adding. These are three trade packages that might land them Kris Bryant if they are actually interested:
