Chicago Bears’ potential replacements for Allen Robinson: Will Fuller

It is a bit curious to see two of the top impending free agent receivers coming off seasons dealing with injury, but Will Fuller is a bit more of a wildcard than Golladay is. The only question — literally the only question — about Fuller has always been his ability to stay healthy. If he’s on the field, he’s excellent.

First coming into the league, Fuller was a burner. He was the field stretcher for the Houston Texans. That was his calling card, and it still is. Make no mistake, this guy can get behind a defense in the blink of an eye and before you know it, he’s in the end zone.

But, Fuller has also become the go-to guy for Deshaun Watson and has expanded his route tree a bit since coming into the league. Before getting hurt in 2020, Fuller was on pace for 78 receptions, nearly 1,300 yards and 12 touchdowns. In 11 games, he caught 53 passes for 879 yards and eight scores.

The situation in Houston is a bit of a mess right now, and no one knows what is going to happen this offseason. You have the possibility of Watson demanding a trade, which is priority number one for the Texans — to make sure he sticks around.

But, beyond Watson, re-signing Fuller should be a top priority. That one-two punch could be lethal for years to come, and is something they should build around.

However, if Fuller enters free agency, he could be a tantalizing option for the Bears. The only big question, again, is if he can stay healthy. Fuller has never played a full 16 games in his five-year career.
