Chicago Bears: 5 players who shouldn’t return in 2021
These five Chicago Bears probably should not return in 2021.
After a second consecutive demoralizing loss in a game that mattered, the Chicago Bears limp into the offseason licking their wounds. In fact, the ending of their season was so bad, it will have many wondering whether their jobs are safe.
Of course, it starts with general manager Ryan Pace, head coach Matt Nagy, and president Ted Phillips. While nothing has been announced as of yet, they are certainly feeling the heat this morning.
Over the past two seasons, this team has gone 8-8, after a promising 12-4 season in 2018. This season alone they went 1-7 against playoff teams, while feasting on the bottom feeders of the league.
The last two weeks were validation that the team’s late season winning streak was fool’s gold, and evidence that this team has a lot of work left to do to get its roster in a place where they can compete with the top teams in the NFC.
That’s bad news for a team with limited salary cap space, and seemingly a lot of holes, and an aging defense who has looked very vulnerable this year.
With that as a backdrop, you might be wondering why we are talking about five players who are unlikely to be back next year. However, this is really a simple case of addition by subtraction. These moves are necessary for this team to move forward and be the team every fan wants them to be.
