Chicago Bears. Eddie Jackson. 39. player. 57. . Jackson

Moving Eddie Jackson might net a strong return for the Chicago Bears.

Eddie Jackson was one of Ryan Pace’s great draft picks during his tenure. He was a fourth-round pick (112th overall) pick in the 2017 NFL Draft out of Alabama. After that draft, you wouldn’t have been able to convince anyone in the world that he would be a better pick than Mitchell Trubisky who was taken three rounds earlier to be their franchise quarterback.

He didn’t have the best year of his career so far in 2020 which might slightly lower his trade value but he is still a good player. He played in all 16 games this season and failed to make one interception. That is not good for a player as good as him. For a guy who had as many as six just two seasons prior (and took two of them all the way back for touchdowns) having zero is not a good look.

The thing that has clearly gone against Jackson in the last two years has been the defensive schemes. They don’t blitz nearly as much under Chuck Pagano which allows opposing quarterbacks to make less risky throws creating more opportunities to pick the ball off. Since losing Vic Fangio to the Denver Broncos, Jackson’s numbers have steadily decreased. It isn’t much of an excuse as you can’t only be good with one coordinator but it is an explanation.

Hot. One Bears' drive spoke volumes about Trubisky's future. light

Eddie Jackson, out of the three mentioned players, is the most likely to net the Bears a bulky return because of his position, resume, and age.  It is not fun to talk about trading these guys already but the Bears becoming a better football team is the most important thing. 2018 was a lot of fun but that team and its success are long gone so they need to try and rebuild back to that level of success. Hopefully, they are able to make enough moves to take another step in the right direction towards that.
