Chicago Bears: Three starters to consider trading after 2020 season
It might be time for the Chicago Bears to consider moving Khalil Mack.
Khalil Mack is one of the most talented players to ever play for the Chicago Bears. He is incredibly gifted at what he does and it shows when you watch him play. He hasn’t had the level of success as he had in his first season with the Bears but he has still had Pro Bowl level years nonetheless. This is an elite player who would make any team in the league better just by dropping him in. It might be time for the Bears to consider moving on.
The reason it is time to consider moving on is the thought of clearing some cap space and maybe bringing in a future asset. Of course, we don’t know if there will be a single team that is willing to take on a cap hit for an aging linebacker but you never know. He is clearly still highly impactful and might be even better on a team that doesn’t hinder basically every player.
Moving a contract like that is incredibly difficult which makes this type of transaction unlikely but it is something to still try if you are the Bears GM. Acquiring Mack was one of the real treats of the Ryan Pace era as we were all so excited to hear it when it happened. It never fully worked out to win a title but the window officially feels closed. The offense was never able to take advantage of defense this good with Mack leading the way and it is a real shame.
