3. A new face could be the next Chicago Bears quarterback
A new quarterback means that there is new hope for any given NFL fanbase. Four years ago, when the Bears drafted Trubisky, it was clear that there was new hope in Chicago. Fast forward to week one in 2019 and hope quickly faded. Ever since then, Bears fans have been split on Trubisky.
There are three routes that the Bears can take in order to address the quarterback position in the upcoming offseason. The first option is drafting a quarterback. That would entail drafting someone in the first round and having them sit behind NIck Foles.
The second option is acquiring someone via trade. While there is a chance that guys like Matt Ryan, Carson Wentz, and Deshaun Watson could be available, Chicago would need to create some extra cap space if it means fully taking on the contract of a quarterback who’s already been inked to a big deal.
The third option is examining the free agent market and seeing what’s available. While we know that Dak Prescott would immediately solve the Bears issues, there are some names like Cam Newton, Tyrod Taylor, and Ryan Fitzpatrick who could all be signed to one-year deals to give the Bears time to figure out a permanent solution.
