Chicago Bears Rumors: Three reasons to trade for Deshaun Watson
The Chicago Bears really need to consider going for Deshaun Watson via trade.
The Chicago Bears are famous for making one of the biggest mistakes in the history of the NFL Draft. We all know by now (unfortunately) that they passed on Deshaun Watson and Patrick Mahomes in favor of Mitchell Trubisky in the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft. Mahomes was made out to be the third-best quarterback in the draft but he is looking like a legendary player that is going to go down as one of the all-time greats.
Watson, although not as good as Mahomes, is one of the three best quarterbacks in the NFL. As far as trade value, he probably has the second most (only behind Mahomes) in the NFL. Well, there have been many rumors lately about the fact that he wants out of Houston. They have been a poorly run organization for a long time and it seems like Watson is tired of it.
Not that the Bears are a much better ran team, but they have a chance to redeem themselves. If they can muster up enough trade material for Watson, it would really change the perception of the way that draft was handled. It would make the Texans look really bad because that would mean they traded Deshaun Watson and DeAndre Hopkins in back to back offseasons but that doesn’t matter to Bears fans.
We as a fanbase have been starving for a good quarterback forever. Deshaun Watson isn’t a great quarterback because he is an elite quarterback. His numbers were remarkable in 2020 and he was on a 4-12 team that didn’t help him at all. The Bears, if they had an elite quarterback, could absolutely be a team going into the playoffs with a much better record. If they wanted to actually consider this deal, and it would be pricy, these are the three reasons why:
