Reason #3: Chicago Bears & Nickelodeon…fun for the whole family!

It may seem corny, but this game offers a rare opportunity for fans with kids that don’t like watching sports. While it may not make the kids sit and watch the entire game for three hours, it could catch their eye and get them to check it out for a while.

I don’t have any kids so I may not be the most expert source on this, but I remember being a kid and being bored trying to watch an entire game. I was obsessed with Nickelodeon then and I know that watching my favorite characters pop up during a game would catch my interest.

As far as holding that interest, who knows? Kids now have so many other options for entertainment than just watching TV as well. This may be just an experiment for Nickelodeon and CBS for now, but it’s a good way to test the waters for atypical broadcasts in the future.

This game provides an opportunity for families who do their own things on Sundays because football is on the TV all day. This gives that family a chance to at least try and sit down for a while together and watch.

It may not be a regular occurrence to see future NFL playoff games on children’s channels, but this is a try at getting more viewers involved that wouldn’t be typical NFL fans. I’m all for it, and I hope everyone will give this special broadcast a chance on Sunday.
