Reason #1: Nickelodeon brings totally different type of play-by-play

The first thing I thought when I heard the Bears game would be on Nickelodeon is “What will this sound like in the booth?” I couldn’t imagine a straight play-by-play and analysis while there were Spongebob SquarePants animations and slime on the field.

That’s not what we’re getting either. The game will be broadcast by legendary play-by-play man Ian Eagle’s son, Noah Eagle. Joining him will be former NFL player Nate Burleson (Pictured above in shorts suit). Eagle explained what their goal is for the broadcast Sunday (Via CBS Sports):

"This is a perfect opportunity to captivate a new audience of sports fans and football fans…the family can watch it all as a single unit, and have fun. It’s going to be a blend of sports, entertainment, laughs, joy, all of the above, and we’re expecting a good game as well, which doesn’t hurt."

Sounds like a good start, but there will also be some interesting facts shared with fans during the game. Eagle added that rather than just recite a player’s college history or their stats, the broadcasters will share facts like the player’s favorite ice cream or cartoon character.

It should be fun and don’t be surprised at all if there’s a sliming of the broadcast booth at some point during the game (likely towards the end). If you’re like me, you’re open to any change in NFL games’ cookie-cutter broadcast teams.
