Trade 2: The Chicago Bears deal a haul of draft picks for Deshaun Watson

The second trade scenario is pretty simple: The Bears go all-in and attempt to become the highest bidder for Watson’s services. In this instance, Watson comes to the Bears accompanied by a 4th round pick which the Bears do not currently have in this year’s draft. So, that helps just a bit.

But, in order to land Watson, the Bears sell the farm and essentially scream: “Super Bowl or bust.”

It’s time to break the bank of draft capital, folks.

Houston would immediately become rich in draft capital, snatching three first rounders from the Bears, as well as a third rounder in 2022. This might be about as well as they could do in a deal for Watson, assuming he does indeed want out.

The irony about this trade is that it wouldn’t be the first time this century in which the Bears trade three first-round draft picks for a quarterback. Let’s not forget the Jay Cutler deal.

Sure, that trade did not work out as well as the Bears had hoped. For three first rounders, you would hope to be landing an All Pro type of quarterback. Instead, Cutler gave them extremely high highs and very low lows.

This time will be different, however, because Watson is much more talented than Cutler ever was.
