Chicago Bulls guard Zach LaVine has been among many trade rumors since coming to the team.

The Chicago Bulls are still figuring things out under new head coach Billy Donovan, and that was to be expected. But, with the team under new leadership in the front office as well, it makes one wonder whether or not this season will see the Bulls make any moves before the trade deadline.

It’s early in the season, but you have to start thinking about what the Bulls may be thinking. They are clearly not in a position to compete for anything more than maybe the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference, and as long as we’re being realistic, they may be better off selling a little at the deadline.

The Bulls have some nice, young pieces to build around. But, they’re also trying to find out which of those should be here for the long haul. Lauri Markkanen was a hot topic prior to the season, but the Bulls couldn’t work out an extension and now he’s going to enter free agency after this year.

Zach LaVine is also on the second half of his contract, and next season would be his last in Chicago barring an extension. He’s been tossed around in a lot of trade rumors over the years, but could the Bulls finally decide to deal him this year?

The back court of he and Coby White is fun, but Chicago does need one of their guards to be a better defender — and LaVine simply isn’t that type of player. The duo are a blast to watch, but are they the duo that will put Chicago over the top? Probably not.

Brett Siegel over at NBA Analysis Network recently put together a few trade scenarios for LaVine and the Bulls, and they’re definitely worth looking into if you’re Arturas Karnisovas. Let’s take a look through each one of them, drawing out how it would impact both sides in each scenario.
