The Chicago Bears play in a bad NFC this year which allowed them to make the playoffs.

The NFC was really a terrible conference in 2020 if you consider things. The elite teams in the conference are the Green Bay Packers, New Orleans Saints, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. You can also make an argument for the Los Angeles Rams but they are hopeless without Jared Goff who is out with an injury. The Bears made the playoffs because the rest of the conference was either mediocre or bad. Their only win against one of these teams is the Buccaneers and we already went over why that happened.

The NFC East didn’t even produce a team that is over .500 for crying out loud. The Washington Football Team won the division with a record of 7-9. They would have come in third place or worse in every other NFC Division but they get to host a playoff game in Washington DC. It was a strange year to be an NFC East team but they were the ones who came out of it.

If you compare the NFC to the AFC, it isn’t even close. The Bears would not have even sniffed a playoff spot if they were in the AFC. You had to be 11-5 or better to make the playoffs in the AFC which is a whole three games better than the Bears. The Miami Dolphins at 10-5 will be watching the playoffs from home while the 8-8 Bears go to New Orleans. It doesn’t seem fair but that’s how it is in the NFC sometimes. Of course, the Bears are certainly lucky to be in the playoffs but they are there and now you know why.
