The Chicago Bears are going to the playoffs with a record of 8-8 after starting 5-1.

The Chicago Bears are 8-8 despite the fact that they started 5-1. Of course, that means they went 3-7 to finish off the season which is not good at all. That came in large part to a six-game losing streak after the 5-1 start. They did win three in a row to come to 8-7 before the week 17 loss to the Green Bay Packers so you know it was truly an up and down season.

You heard it all when they were 5-1. There were people that believed that the Bears actually had a chance at the one seed and were a legit Super Bowl contender. You heard more people say that they were the biggest fraud 5-1 team in the history of the NFL. The latter group was proven right as the Bears just aren’t that good. They finished off the season just good enough to sneak into the final Wild Card spot.

Of course, there was one win early on that made people think twice about them. Their only win this season against a team with a winning record was their victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. That game had some Bucs players missing and it was still early enough where Tom Brady was still getting used to his new team. Regardless, it will be remembered as their signature win of the regular season. It wasn’t the prettiest but it is one of the reasons they are here today.
