The Chicago Bears are going to the playoffs and there are few reasons why.

The Chicago Bears are going to the playoffs. They finished the regular season with a record of 8-8. They are a very mediocre team that is fortunate that the National Football League decided to expand the playoffs to seven teams. There has never been a seventh-seed team so the Bears are very lucky. They also lost their last game of the season to the Green Bay Packers so they didn’t even make it by winning their own game.

It would have been nice to see them go into the playoffs on a multi-week winning streak but it just wasn’t in the cards. The Los Angeles Rams defeated the Arizona Cardinals in a game that happened simultaneously with the Bears vs Packers game and that got the Bears in. The Rams jumped in and clinched the sixth seed and put the Bears in while eliminating the Cardinals.

It has literally been a roller coaster of a season that we will never forget. Between a global pandemic, no preseason, quarterback issues, offensive line issues, the defense taking a step back, and weird playcalling shenanigans, they still find themselves playing the New Orleans Saints in the playoffs. It will be the first road playoff game that Chicago is playing since 1994.

The circumstances aren’t great but they are in the playoffs. When you are a team that has only made five appearances in the postseason since 2000, you might as well be excited about it. They probably don’t have much of a chance to defeat the two-seed Saints but they are going to give it a try. These are the three reasons that they made it to the playoffs:
