Chicago Bears: Rumored quarterbacks to the Bears in 2021
By Ryan Heckman
5. The Chicago Bears could stick with Mitchell Trubisky
Over all of the other noise and rumors, one constant remains: Mitchell Trubisky may have already done enough to earn a second contract in Chicago. No matter what, the Bears’ management could decide they liked what they saw from Trubisky down the stretch.
Coaches and teammates alike have said how impressed they’ve been in Trubisky’s response to the adversity of being benched. He responded with a motivation and vigor that we had been longing to see from him for quite some time. But, does that necessarily mean he’s turned the page and actually progressed as a quarterback?
Ideally, the Bears wouldn’t be answering those types of questions as a quarterback enters his fifth year. But, that’s where they’re at, and we all have to live with it.
The facts are clear. Trubisky knows the offense. He gives them the added mobility. He knows the team and has chemistry with the guys. So, knowing Chicago is historically a low-risk type of franchise, they very well could stick it out with Trubisky in 2021.
Not only that, but many reports have the Bears keeping Matt Nagy and Ryan Pace for at least one more year, too. The Bears are really about to run it back with the same key pieces they saw take them on a rollercoaster ride in 2020, aren’t they? We’ll have to wait and see, but nothing would surprise us fans at this point.
