The Chicago Blackhawks trading Dylan Strome to the Buffalo Sabres might finally get them in the playoffs.

The Chicago Blackhawks need help at center, as mentioned before. Cody Eakin would be a great veteran to add to this team while they try to develop some of these other young kids. The Blackhawks getting that and a second round pick in the 2021 NHL Draft would be good return for a contract-less Dillon Strome.

Cody Eakin might not be a guy loaded with high end skill but he plays the game hard and feisty. He probably wouldn’t step in and be in their top six but he also might if he were acquired. That is how dry the Hawks are at the center of the ice right now. If Dylan Strome doesn’t want to sign and they are forced to trade him, they almost have to bring someone back to eat minutes for them this season. The 2021 second-round pick is the main piece coming back in this trade as it can be used to add more depth to the organization through a rebuild.

As for Strome, he would be going to a Buffalo Sabres team that hasn’t made the playoffs in a long time. If they acquired and signed him, he would fit in perfectly as their third line center. They have great top-six centers in Jack Eichel and Eric Staal so that three headed monster would be pretty fun to watch. They also have some great young players that Sabres fans are very excited about. They may or may not end their playoff drought in 2021 but adding a center like Strome to replace Eakin would really help.
