Trade One

The Chicago Cubs should absolutely trade Yu Darvish. He had one brilliant year during a pandemic shortened season and his trade value is never going to be this high ever again. They may or may not be good next season but trading Darvish for young talent is the way to go. Their farm is more depleted than they would like from all of the trades they made over the past few years trying to win so adding some depth to it would be awesome.

CJ Abrams is currently the Padres number two prospect. He is a shortstop that was drafted in the first round, sixth overall, in the 2019 draft. He is sure to be a great player that can do a lot of things to help his team win. We don’t know what Javier Baez’s future is with the Chicago Cubs but if things go south it would be nice to have a backup plan at shortstop. Abrams could be that guy that replaces Baez in the long term if he were developed properly.

As for Reggie Lawson and Lake Bachar, they are both right-handed pitchers. Lawson currently sits as San Diego’s number ten prospect and Bachar is their number 23 prospect. Both of them have a chance to be Major League pitchers someday which is exactly what the Cubs need. One thing that was a failure during the Theo Epstein era was the development of pitching. These guys might be able to help turn that around.
